Gnanodaya School, Day 3
It is with great pleasure that we announce that our pilot program at Gnanodaya School was a success!
Today's focus was on 'the business' and 'the pitch.' We started the day by learning about business basics, covering topics like profit, loss, cost price, selling price, break-even point, demand, and supply. After that, we had an activity called 'price is right.' Here, students had to price their product and explain their reasoning. After that, we moved on to advertising and different ways to advertise. Next was a question of how free apps earn money.
After a short break, we taught the students about pitching. We taught them the components of a pitch, how to make an elevator pitch, and how to create a pitch deck.
We learned that the school wanted us to conduct a short test to see how much the students actually learned from us. That was unexpected. We quickly made a list of 20 questions with very short answers for the students to write. We only got a chance to skim their answers, but we were pleased to see that most of the kids had learned something and managed to write it. We had our doubts because of the language gap. (We really had trouble with that.)
After the quick test, we moved on to the closing ceremony. We distributed certificates to the students and also gave them pencils.
Overall, our pilot program was a success. It was really encouraging to see that what we said made an impact, and that some kids really had good ideas and we helped them develop those ideas.
